Painting Tips

  • Different colour shades can make a room look larger or smaller depending on the shade. To make a room seem bigger opt for lighter shades of cream and off whites.
  • When painting an entire room always start from the top down. Ceilings first, followed by walls and finally doors and skirting.
  • If you are storing your opened paint cans over a long period, always leave them standing upside down. This will prevent a skin from forming on the top.
  • Wrap your paint rollers and paint brushes in cling film after cleaning, as it will prevent them from going hard.
  • If you are painting newly plastered walls it is recommended to water down emulsion by 10%. This enables the paint to soak better into the wall and gives a better base for the second coat.
